Double Page Spreads

Double page spread in Kerrang!

Main image, takes up all page, but separate, “back track” only thing on that page.
Letter of paragraph, large font

Not much writing, not many colours, photos.

At the top “Foxboro Hot Tubs” seems like an advertisement for something, and also seems un linked, until you read the article, it is placed at the top to make you do this, also it is in bright colours unlike most of the rest of the pages.

Both the picture and the line “Green Day Boys Get Kinky With Their Garage-Rock Alter Egos.” Draw people in, mainly because they do not know what it is about and are interested.

Mojo December 2008

The whole double page has a very dark feel about it. This is emphasised in the way that there is no colour; the whole thing is black and white, very like the cover of this same issue.
The article is about Metallica who are a very heavy metal band. One full page is a photo of one of the Metallica members, James Hetfield, whose picture is a close up of his face, which is surrounded by shadow. His eyes are the most obvious, and very dark. He has a menacing expression; it makes it quite scary and mysterious. It however, does fit in with the type of band he’s in.
Half the page with the article on is taken up by the pull quote, which is something that continues in the article. It is in a large font but some words are in a bold font as well, they are the words that sound the most dark and mysterious. This, again, fits in with the Metallica menacing image.
