Colours and Layouts of Other magazines

Mojo - aimed at older people,plain colours, reds blacks only a few colours per page. Pages black and white background.
Minimalist, not distracting.

Top of the Pops - seems very girly, pinks
Lots of images and words, lively don't know what to look at first
Lots of different fonts, swirly pretty.
Things you associate with girls, also, lots of gossip.

I want my magazine to be more aimed at rock music not pop and gossip, however, Kerrang! is a lot likke Top of the Pops, there is lots going on, on the front cover and contents especially.

On most front covers the front cover photo overlaps the masthead, only showing part of the masthead.

Mojo and Q are more sophisticated
I could also go along the Q look route. With only one photo on the front cover and it maybe a bit more lively on the contents, mixing Q and Kerrang! styles a bit.

I don't want a lot of bright colours in my magazine, particularly on the front cover, as it is brash and unattractive.
